Order Process
To process your order, here are some guidelines to help achieve the perfect portrait.
Image/Photograph.
I can’t emphasise enough the importance of a good picture, and today you can do this just as well on a modern mobile phone as with a Digital SLR camera.
Key points for the perfect photograph:
- For head & shoulder portraits, try to get the head and half the body in the viewfinder if your pet is sat facing the camera.
- Ensure the light is behind the camera – however too much bright light will make your pet squint. Ensure eyes are fully open.
- Try and take the picture at eye level with your pet nice and relaxed.
- The subject should be the primary focus, pay attention to capturing the detail of the fur an other features such as eyes ears and nose. Ensure these are in focus, the background is completely irrelevant so do not worry if the background is out of focus
- Use natural light where possible and ensure colours on your photo match those of your pet. If the exposure of the image is incorrect or the picture is taken with poor artificial light, the colours of you pet may look washed out. As we only have the image to go on, do ensure the colours on the image are as close as possible to your pet to get a true likeness on the portrait.
- Not all pets will sit and pose for a photograph, it can be worth having a second person stood behind the photographer with your pets favourite toy or something that will attract the attention of your pet.
- Photographs will need to be sent through to us using the ‘original’ format of the photograph. Please do not try and reduce the size of the photograph or send a thumbnail picture through as we need to zoom in on the image in order to pick out detail and colour. The typical image we use tend to be around 3Mb in size, modern cameras and phones can generate images with greater resolution however this may cause issue sending them via email in which case do reduce the image size to around 2 to 3 Mb in size.
- Rather than take a photo with the subject looking straight at the camera, try and take the photo at a slight angle as this helps highlight the features of your pet such as the nose.
